The art of lace making goes back at least a thousand years in Belgium and, despite the increasing pressure for machine made fabrics, this tablecloth honors the old ways of doing things.

The lace that graces this tablecloth and six matching napkins has been entirely created by hand. The process involves using a "carreau" or cushion to stablize the paper pattern. The pattern is realized using a set of 22 bobbins used to weave the threads into the most intricate of traditional patterns. The work is painstaking...the corner of one of these napkins can take up to three days to make...but the result is breathtakingly spectacular.
